Getting engaged is a time for celebration, and while Rosie O'Donnell's recently announced engagement to Michelle Rounds has led to mostly positive support, she admitted on "The Rosie Show" (Weeknights, 7PM ET on OWN) that it still surprises her how far we've come as a society.
And then she sees something, like Rick Perry's "Strong" ad, which tells her we're not there yet.
In the ad, the presidential hopeful says, "I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a Christian. But you don't need to be in the pew every Sunday to know that there's something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military, but our kids can't openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school."
Rick Perry's ad has gone viral, but not for positive reasons. It has well over 600,000 "dislikes" on YouTube, and has received a ton of video responses, and even several video parodies.
But the content of his message is no laughing matter. O'Donnell said, "It broke my heart ... He called the ad 'Strong,' but frankly he should have just called it wrong."
